Discipling Men, Inc
A prayerful, encouraging, grace oriented ministry which grows men in Christ through
meeting with them, ministering to them and mobilizing them for the glory of God.
Amen Bible Study at Second Presbyterian Church
This year Discipling Men, Inc has been called upon to mobilize men as mentors to
younger protégés in and through the Amen Bible Study. Last Spring we asked for
volunteers and this fall we have matched 18 older guys with younger men to invest
in their lives to encourage them in Christ. It is happening!! Men are responding to the
Great Commission call of Mt. 28: 19, 20 to make disciples. Discipling Men, Inc still
takes the lead in coordinating the small group ministry as well as the person to open
the meeting in prayer.
A new ministry for Discipling Men, Inc. is serving as an Emergency Medical Responderfor the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department. Investing in the lives of those on the front line
is both stretching and yet exhilarating. Numerous times a month we go out on response calls.
We often are called to more serious search and rescue work. I have the opportunity to pray
with law enforcement, responders, and families of those we serve. An opportunity to reach
out in the name of Jesus is only a 911 call away.
Meeting with kingdom minded leaders to encourage them is a key to this ministry.
The ministry of Discipling Men, Inc. through Scouting involves Scoutmaster of Troop 86,
plus a bi-weekly lunch meeting for Scout leaders throughout the Thunderbird District.
Fathers and sons grow in their relationship with Christ.
Discipling Men has had the privilege to encourage, build up and strengthen men in Christ
through teaching weekly the Growing in Grace Class, small groups and larger men’s groups.
One of the great joys of Discipling Men, Inc. has been the growing and relationship with
First Evangelical Church. Weekly teaching the men on Wednesday night has been a great joy
and fruitful ministry. Men have been impacted by serving on the Board of Nexus, a year long
program committed to shape future leaders to make a difference in Memphis. Teaching or
leading a small group takes place every day, Monday, through Friday.
